Old, New, Borrowed and Blue: Terri & Ben's February Wedding February 25 2017
A beautiful wedding captured by Georgie Daniell Photography.
Terri and Ben's October Wedding set in the whimsical bushland of Dunedin, Otago.
"Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue,
and a silver sixpence in her shoe". A traditional rhyme for what a bride should wear.
I have always loved this rhyme and Terri's wedding touched on many elements of this sentimental tail.
Our design journey began with Terri's family heirloom heritage lace coat. With a vision to preserve and work with the delicate antique lace the seams were carefully unpicked. With Terri's measurements a new pattern was drafted and a lace overcoat was handcrafted featuring little capped sleeves and a sculpted appliqué lace collar stand. Borrowing excess lace from the original lace coat, lace panels were cut and crafted into a entirely new garment to be worn underneath the lace coat. This couture gown was cut on the bias, a cutting technique working with the drape and fall of a woven fabric.
